Thanks for a wonderful post - once again! Do you think the prelude could have been a P.S.? The reason being - the tone and manner of the preamble seems to have governed the tone and manner of the rest of the post. The great thing about your posts is that they are conversational in tone, and informative in content and tickle the taste-buds! just enough for the reader to want to know more!RegardsAjoy V

This blog has become an extension of MSM. Its not a question of left or right-wing but 'right' (truth) thinking which matters. As for awards & designations, we all know how they are rewarded by institutions.

To your point on the need for Kamal to potray himself as an effeminate Kathak dancer - he probably needed to get as close as possible to the CEO guy and he not only had to show himself as a TamBram to get to marry the firm's employee Dr. Nirupama, but also had to emasculate himself to not get conjugally involved, perhaps (sorry, still dont know why Kathak. Why not, say, Bharata Natyam?!)
But like many have already pointed out, the lady and her accent were a huge pain. Wonder why (...)

Unbelievingly at the end of it all, there are people who are fighting for the rights and sympathy for the monsters. Talking of mindset, would you believe that some people believe that female feticide should be legalised ? They think stopping female feticide is nothing but moral policing. Take a look here if you don't believe your eyes. http://www.bhagwad.com/blog/2012/philosophy/

I am an Indian girl born and brought up in the US. While reading the above emails, a couple of things came into my mind. I felt like if you take away the guy's ethnicity, it could be any other couple who have a child out of wedlock unintentionally. The fact that he is Indian doesn't really change anything. He seems very immature, cowardly, controlling and irresponsible. I don't understand why the letter writer is not being firm in demanding what her wants, expectations and rights a(...)

I am not making personal assumptions. I am replying you what you have stated in your blog post.
You say you talk about a few and not all men, but you also say the lesson to be learnt is "This is how I understand masculinity to operate: Either you are a bully or you are bullied. You find a weaker boy to absorb your humiliation, or you are that boy." and your heading says "A glimpse into the world of boys" ., and you talk about testosterone driven ways and " realities in a lot of (...)

I don't know what is causing his issues. Whatever his limitations are it is not the limitation that all men face. We are not one track ponies, no matter what the next convenient sexist assumption has to tell you.
You and the author with anger issues make are making this leap from his personal experiences to "testosterone driven way of a lot of boys" and "masculinity in men" and make kiddie fights sound like life scarring experiences. But you are unwilling to make the same leap w(...)

the man has anger and control issues which is why beats people up and then feels helpless about his anger and aggression. Not all men have anger issues. He needs help, not all little boys.

words hurt more?Isn't that how little girls fight, using words and gossip and social bullying, because they are told they are not supposed to fight like boys or am i assuming too much? How do we prevent little girls from doing this to other little girls? How can we train them to be better people?
All the fights he describes with his brothers, and the one you highlight, are the ones in which he lands the final punch. So why would he feel helpless or a lack of dignity?

Any fight between little boys which ends with a slap is not something which can inflict brutal wounds. It is not something that you remember and write up in an article many years later after you grow up. It is something that you forget after a week.

Haven't you seen little tiger cubs, baby chimpanzees fight each other on national geographic? How can you undo something that is so basic to all animals? It would be cruel to keep the baby brothers from doing what comes naturally to them. If i am correct even the female young ones are seen doing this on the animal channels. It just goes to show that human female babies are being prevented from doing what is a natural learning experience. From such fights you get to learn but you are (...)
