Army jawan arrested for raping woman

An Army jawan has been arrested by the General Railway Police for allegedly raping a woman at the Alwar railway junction.
The arrests came after a woman alleged that she was raped by the jawan posted in 8 Jat Regiment at Alwar.
According to police, the incident happened around 12.30 pm on Monday when a woman travelling from Jaipur, along with her child, came to the waiting room. The jawan, Rajesh Kumar (32), had gone there for some work. The woman asked him way to bathroom and the jawan followed her, locked the door from inside and allegedly raped her.
Later, the victim narrated the incident to the railway authorities after which the man was arrested by GRP.
“An Army jawan raped a woman in the waiting room’s bathroom of the junction. The woman informed the railways authorities about it after which the jawan was arrested. He was produced before the railway court and he has been remanded to police custody till May 3. A medical examination of the woman was conducted and the report is awaited,” said JC Ram, SHO, GRP police station, Alwar.
“The matter is under investigation and the law will take its own course. The individual is in police custody. Nothing much can be done until the investigation by GRP ends. The Army will extend full support to the GRP and be assured proper action will be taken against the jawan,” said SD Goswami, spokesperson, Defence.
